God is Jehovah-Shammah: The Lord ever present. (Ezekiel 48:35)
(The above names fit this Psalm perfectly. Note how each name is in this Psalm.)
"Father God, You have so many wonderful Names. May I search out the Scripture and really get to know You by Your Names. Each one has a special meaning and gives me deeper understanding to Who You are. Reveal Your character to me today. Amen."
We have studied many names of God. I love to learn about God's name and what they mean. Jehovah-Shammah means God is always there. Paradise also means that we can live there too, if we die to flesh, and live unto God. Amen. Remember we sit in heavenly places with Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 1:2-3). In the Old Testament Jehovah Shammah occurs only once in Ezekiel 48:35. Jehovah is translated as "The Existing One" or "Lord." The chief meaning of Jehovah is derived from the Hebrew word Havah meaning "to be" or "to exist." It also suggests "to become" or specifically "to become known" - this denotes a God who reveals Himself unceasingly. Shammah is derived from the Hebrew word sham, which can be translated as "there." Jehovah Shammah is a symbolic name for the earthly Jerusalem. The name indicates that God has not abandoned Jerusalem, leaving it in ruins, but that there will be a restoration. Amen.
