Bible Study: Week # 1

"God Still Heal through His Word"

SUBJECT: Doctor Luke (Unbelievers)

In this lesson we will use Dr. Luke's position as unbelief, because today most doctors do not believe we should believe that Jesus still heal today. God's plan as said in (Psalm 107:20), "He sent His Word to heal us." Jesus is the Word of God that dwelt in the flesh; (John 1:14 says), "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

Dr. Luke was one of Paul's disciples who believed. The New Testament mentions Luke briefly a few times, and the Pauline Epistle to the Colossians refers to him as a physician (from Greek for 'one who heals'); thus he is thought to have been both a physician and a disciple of Paul.

Luke - was hanged in Thiva, Greece as a result of his tremendous preaching to the lost. Luke was mostly called an evangelist because he traveled with Paul.  While I was in the last study I was meditating on God's Word, and I asked God to give me the next bible study. I was reading my healing devotional book and the Holy Spirit spoke to me about Dr. Luke, Jesus, and disbelief in today's doctors. They don't want us to believe God still heal. They just want us to take their created medicine.  God's Word is our medicine!  That hit me hard! I begin to meditate on it and it became very clear to me. Jesus was there, and Dr. Luke was too. Dr. Luke was a believer!  Looking at today doctors make you think about this.  We are not taking any credit from Dr. Luke, but it represents disbelief when you put your trust in doctors more than in Christ Jesus. They called Jesus the Great Physician!  Trust Him, He can heal you.

Don't get me wrong, I truly believe Jesus respected Dr. Luke and his position for all unbelievers.  Remember what He said about divorcement?

(Deuteronomy 24:1-3. Isaiah 50:1; Mark 10:4-5) "They said, Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her."

And Jesus answered and said to them, Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this  precept or law." I believe the hardness of the heart to believe God's whole Word exist today!  Hebrews 3:15, KJV: "While it is said, today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation." God want us to believe His Word.  It's clear that the people of these days are forgetting God is a healer through Jesus' stripes, (1 Peter 2:24).  Dr. Luke was there for all those who couldn't believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ.  So is the doctors today and medicine is here for those who do not believe in healing. Todays' they are saying it is a spiritual healing, and not a physical healing.  They need the doctors today!  But, this doesn't mean we give up on God's Word as medicine for us when we have faith in Him.  As said before, God put doctors here for unbelievers.  We as believers must remember the "whosoever."  Believers have faith in God's Word. There is a difference!  Later, hopefully, we can get into the different between spiritual healing and physical healing.  Today people are getting confused with the two.

The scriptures are very clear that those who believe upon Jesus are automatically entitled to the promises of the new covenant. The Bible never says that this would end before the return of Christ, and therefore there is no Biblical reason to believe that healing is not for today.

Matthew 8:16-17, "When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

Jesus hasn't changed either! Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."

Let's talk about unbelievers.  Jesus said what will happen to unbelievers in His ministry.  "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith. (Mark 6:5–6)  Clearly said, it was unbelief that kept those from receiving healing those days, and the same is for today.

The believer puts all his faith, all his hope, all his trust in the person of Christ and in the promises of Scripture. The unbeliever puts his trust in himself, or in this world, or in the fruitless philosophies of man-made religion, and scoffs at the authority of God's Word. The believer's life revolves around Christ, and making much of His glory, magnifying His name throughout the world. The unbeliever's life revolves around himself, making much of his own glory, and doing everything he can to make a name for himself in the world. The unbeliever craves the praise of man; the believer craves the reward of Christ. The unbeliever's treasure is laid up on earth where moth and rust destroy; the believer's treasure is reserved in heaven where it can never perish or fade.

And while it's true that we share a common human nature, that we're both made in the image of God, and we live in the same world, in everything that truly matters in life—our hope, our trust, our passions, our convictions—believers and unbelievers share nothing in common.

Where is your treasure? (Matthew  6:19-21).

PRAYER:

Father God, thank You for Your Word that You sent to heal us. We believe that Jesus is Your Word. We stand on and have faith in Your Word today as the believers did in bible days. Father God, help us to open our hearts to receive this lesson on healing. Help us Lord Jesus. We believe that Your Word is a light unto our path, and a lamp to our feet each and every day of our lives.  Create in us a right spirit to believe and receive Your Word today as they did when You walked this earth and ministered to all of God's goodness and love. AMEN.

CONFESSION:

Read John 5:1-9:

"1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?  The impotent man answered him, Sir I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath."

GLORY TO GOD!

Hello, God bless you, for the weeks 7-10 I will reflect on our bible study "Speak to the Mountain" I am so excited about this study! One thing you must know, when you dig deep into God's Word, His truth, the enemy fight to keep you from believing it. Stay focus!

INTRODUCTION NEW BIBLE STUDY

Bible Study:    "God still heals through His Word"

Introduction:

This is worth repeating . . . Our faith in God is so important, and speaking God's Word is an essential part of our walk with God. Man should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of God, and not just that, but speaking God's Word over our life, our families, our jobs, our nation, our economy, our schools, our leaders, etc. We need to learn to speak God's Word, live by God's Word, and trust God's Word to be what it says.

While I was in my quiet time with God I was led to read this scripture (John 5:1-9) from one of my daily devotional books; I read several devotional books through-out the year as led by the Holy Spirit.  It became real to me as to why God allow doctors. This scripture gives you the answer.  Let's look into Jesus' healing ministry.  Through these lessons I want to encourage you to believe God still heal our physical bodies today if we trust and believe in His Word, which is His will.

Our study will be "God still heals through His Word." Our scripture is coming from (John 5:1-9-The Great Physician); focus point will be (v 4).

We will put emphasis on "Whosoever."(v. 4)

We will look at Jesus' healing ministry and Doctor Luke's faith in Jesus' healing ministry, even though he was a doctor.  Most doctors now days don't want you to believe in Jesus' healing ministry, but we must.  Doctor Luke was not one of the apostles whom Jesus ordained to follower Him, but he was a disciple of Paul, and believer of Jesus. You see, the doctor himself believed in Jesus' healing ministry. He believed that God sent His Word to heal us, (Psalm 107:20) and that is a plus for him.  We will study healing scriptures, answer some healing questions,  do some true/false questions.  We will make confessions on healing scriptures, pray a prayer of faith on healing, read the books of Matthew and Luke,  and share some "365 Days of Healing devotionals by Mark Brazee."  There are ten weeks in this study.  Hopefully we can post each week; it will come by the grace of God. Hallelujah to Jesus!

We need to learn to speak God's Word, live by God's Word, and trust God's Word to be what it says.  Our study will be "God still heals through His Word," scripture coming from (John 5:1-9), and many more. We will look at Jesus' healing ministry, (The Great Physician), and Doctor Luke's (The Beloved Physician) who had faith in Jesus' ministry to heal. He didn't talk or write against it!
