Portraits of Our Redemption
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. —2 Corinthians 5:18,19
God redeemed the world to Himself through Jesus' work on the Cross. That's why John the Baptist referred to Jesus as "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). Jesus' work on the Cross is available to anyone and everyone who believes. Therefore, we need to learn what Jesus accomplished on that Cross so we can walk in what belongs to us. If physical healing was a part of what Jesus accomplished, then we can expect divine healing to be our spiritual inheritance. When we look in the Gospels, we discover what literally happened to Jesus on His way to the Cross: He was beaten. His back was laid open with a whip. He was spat upon, and a crown of thorns was placed on His head. Finally, He was nailed to the Cross, where He hung until He died. Yet the Gospels don't really tell us what Jesus purchased for us on the Cross. But all through the Old Testament God provided portraits of our redemption—"word pictures" of what Jesus did for us when He went to the Cross. For the next several days, let's study these vivid pictures of the Cross to gain a greater revelation of our redemption.
Confession: To walk in the fullness of God's blessings, I must know what Jesus did for me on the Cross. My faith grows stronger as I receive a greater revelation of redemption.
