BIBLE STUDY: WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

Answers to Questions: Week # 4

1).        How are we born-again?

We are born-again by God's Holy Spirit. Jesus also explained this to Nicodemus in (John 3:4-6), as stated by Jesus himself.New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4, 18).  John 1:12, 13 indicate that being "born again" also carries the idea of "becoming children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ. We must confess!

2).        Where do our change starts?

Our change starts inwardly with the heart.

3).        What do a renewed heart means?

A renewed heart is a heart that has been changed from the old man to the new man in Christ Jesus, born of the Spirit of God.

4).        How is grace applied to our life?

Grace is applied by the blood of Jesus because God loved us so much He gave His only begotten son, so we could live unto Him and for Him. It's God's kindness to us.

5).        Explain the growth process for the physical and spiritual development.

When we were born physically, we needed good nourishment and exercise to grow physically and develop a healthy body. Similarly our spiritual new birth should result in spiritual growth. Once again we need good nourishment (through reading the Bible and listening to good Bible teachers), and we need exercise (opportunities to exercise our faith and act upon what God is teaching us).

6).        What are the two most important things God has done for us?

He has forgiven all our sin for all time, and He has given us the righteousness of Christ.

7).        Walking in the Spirit means what?

Walking in the Spirit is to follow the Spirit's leading; obey Him and trust Him to lead us in the path of righteousness; pray always. Also, if our lives are showing forth the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22,23), we are walking in the Spirit.

8).        Explain a renewed heart.

It's a heart that has been cleansed through Jesus' blood, and born of God's Spirit, and a renewed heart will glorify God.

9).        What is the different between spiritual quickening and spiritual resurrection?

A spirit that has been resurrected is a spirit that has been brought back from the dead, and the spirit that has been quickened is a spirit that has been empowered by God's Spirit. We are made of three parts (body, soul, and spirit); we are a spirit that has a soul that lives in a body. The spirit is reborn, the soul renewed, and the body is healed. We are transformed into the family of God.

10).      What do 2 Corinthians 5:17 means to you?

It means I have a second chance because I have been born-again, renewed, and healed by God's Spirit. I am a new creation of God. I can live a holy life unto God for His glory.

11).      What do John 1:13 tells us about the new life?

John 1:13 tells us that this new birth was brought about by the will of God. We did not inherit the new nature, nor did we decide to re-create ourselves anew, nor did God simply clean up our old nature; He created something entirely fresh and unique.

12).      Explain what we loved before the new spiritual birth.

We loved the flesh, natural pride, love of sin, reliance on works, and our former opinions, habits and passions, and thing that was not of God.

13).      What do the new spiritual birth brings into our lives?

There are new feelings toward all people—a new kind of love toward family and friends, a new compassion never before felt for enemies, and a new love for all mankind. The things we once loved, we now detest.

14).      Our new life hates the _____ that still has a hold on us.

Our new life hate the sin that still has a hold on us.

15).      How is the new creation created, and by what?

The new creation is a wondrous thing, formed in the mind of God and created by His power and for His glory, therefore we must walk in the Spirit to communicate with Him.

16).      What have you learn from reading Romans 16- Galatians 6?

Other than growing spiritually, I have learned to write good personal letters from Apostle Paul's letters. The beginning (salutation) and the endings of his letters are so inspiring. I love to read them! Galatians was a defense of Paul's doctrine of justification by faith as a warning against reversion to Judaism, and a vindication of Paul's apostleship. Galatians was our main scripture for this study. I finished reading Romans 16- Galatians 6.
